Full Text of JOE Listing:
The University of Chicago Crime and Education Lab is seeking a full-time Research Director to lead a portfolio of projects focused on reducing crime and violence and improving life outcomes for disadvantaged youth. The Crime and Education Lab was founded to work closely with city governments to help design and rigorously test promising interventions to address pressing urban policy challenges. Our current portfolio of projects includes large-scale policy experiments in Chicago and New York City, behavioral science interventions, qualitative studies underground markets, and policy applications of predictive analytics methods from machine learning. The Research Director, in partnership with senior faculty members at the University of Chicago and elsewhere, will provide scientific direction on these projects, and ensure the rigor and quality of the Lab's work.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in public policy, economics, criminology, statistics, computer science, or other relevant field by fall 2018. Preference will be given to those with proven experience working with interdisciplinary research teams and agency and community stakeholders.
