Public Service and Administration Department Head. The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University invites nominations and applications for the position of Department Head and Professor of Public Service and Administration, with responsibilities for a NASPAA accredited Master’s Degree in Public Service and Administration and certificate programs in Homeland Security and Nonprofit Management. The successful candidate will meet qualifications required of a tenured full professor and will assume a 10.5 month academic administrative appointment as full professor of public service and administration beginning as early as July 1, 2017, with the possibility of holding an endowed chair. In addition, the successful candidate will have a substantial record of professional and university service, with a special emphasis on graduate education and research, provide evidence of excellent leadership, communication and management skills demonstrated through leadership roles in universities, government, organizations or associations, and demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

The Department of Public Service and Administration at the Bush School of Government and Public Service offers three tracks of curriculum, including public management, public policy analysis, and nonprofit management. The School is ranked in the top 12 percent of graduate public affairs schools in the nation (U.S. News & World Report) and 1st in the Nation for “Best Value in MPA Programs” (Value College). The curriculum within the department is a blend of both the theoretical and the practical—providing students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for successful careers in public service. Students can choose from a number of concentrations to focus their studies including state and local government; health policy; education policy; security policy; energy, environment, and technology; international nongovernmental organizations; and individually designed concentrations offering flexibility to students with specific interests. The department continues to grow, and currently enrolls 168 full-time in-residence students, with 18 tenured or tenure-track faculty.
