The Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Office of Research, Demonstration, and Employment Support is responsible for developing, testing, and administering programs and policies supporting the labor force participation and employment of Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries and potential applicants.

The successful candidate will join a team that designs, administers, and analyzes social experiments/ demonstration projects to test changes to SSA’s nonretirement programs and conduct research on disability and SSA-related issues; conducts policy-relevant research for publication; performs data analyses to inform the Agency on emerging public policy issues; and manages contractor tasks, budgets, and schedules.

Economics PhDs with an interest in applied microeconomics (particularly health, labor, and public economics) and applied econometrics (including experimental design) are encouraged to apply. Other preferred skills include competency in SAS or Stata statistical software; the ability to work independently; and a desire to work in a multidisciplinary team-oriented environment.

The positions have a salary range of $79,720 to $103,639. Individuals with master’s degrees may be interested in the Social Science Research Analyst positions also posted on USAJOBS.gov. U.S. citizenship is required for employment.
