The Office of Tax Analysis (OTA) anticipates staff openings in 2019 for economists with a strong interest in applied research to assess the economic and revenue effects of current and proposed Federal tax policies affecting numerous domestic and international policy areas, including business formation, choice of business organizational form, tax accounting, savings and investment, pensions, social security, financial institutions, labor, health, housing, the environment, energy, and international trade and investment flows. Staff economists play a key role in shaping federal tax policy. Staff members are encouraged to publish their research findings in professional journals. A PhD or equivalent experience in economics, statistics, finance, or related disciplines, strong research and communication skills, and U.S. citizenship are required.
