Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Institute for Policy Integrity at New York University School of Law (policyintegrity.org) is seeking an economist with expertise in energy policy. The ideal candidate should have a focus on policy-oriented, interdisciplinary research in utility regulation, or energy economics and policy.

Policy Integrity is a non-partisan think tank dedicated to improving the quality of government decisionmaking. We work to identify and support economically sound policies related to energy, the environment, and public health.

The energy economist will collaborate with legal and economic researchers to prepare policy reports, comments in regulatory proceedings, and journal articles on a variety of issues including energy and climate policy, wholesale electricity market design, and retail electricity policies. They will analyze proposed wholesale and retail market rule changes, and provide insights to inform policymaking.

A Ph.D. with 2-3 years of relevant work experience in energy policy is strongly preferred. Strong candidates with a master’s degree and 5+ years of experience will also be considered. Excellent programming skills and written communication skills are essential. Ease with big-data methods are a plus.

Salary and benefits are competitive. Economists will have the opportunity to engage in independent research.
