What you'll do
You’ll work with colleagues worldwide to bring advanced economic capabilities to our clients.
In this role, you will deliver exceptional impact by working closely with our analysts, experts and client service teams by collecting, preparing and deploying economics-focused data, analytics and insights. You will also support the McKinsey Global Institute’s deep research on global economics and business topics.

You will understand, disaggregate and prioritize the economics research and information needs of McKinsey’s global pool of management consultants. You will also support the development and data collection for expert-led datasets and assets using Excel, Python and other data preparation and visualization tools, and statistical software packages. Also, as part of this team, you will develop a spike within one of our service lines including labor, cross-border flows, macroeconomic modelling and economic development, among others.

Who you'll work with
You will be based in our Waltham or Atlanta office as part of McKinsey’s Global Client Capabilities Network (CCN). Colleagues in our global Client Capabilities Network deliver distinctive client impact through assets and expertise and are driven by a culture of innovation. You’ll work as part of McKinsey’s Economics Analytics team serving the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) and consulting clients. The Economics Analytics team has three areas of focus. We support MGI, McKinsey’s think tank, with economic capabilities as they produce client relevant insights that materially impact the decisions of both corporate leaders and policymakers. We support McKinsey’s partners when their clients require economic capabilities covering macroeconomics, labor markets, industrial growth, international trade, capital markets, public policy evaluation, etc. Finally, we conduct R&D to develop new tools and capabilities to bring the best of McKinsey to our clients.

Qualifications
PhD in economics preferred
Exposure to input-output tables and/or CGE modeling (GTAP preferred)
Experience in econometrics and statistical analysis as well as related software platforms desirable
Ability to creatively retrieve, manipulate, summarize and present complex information
Strong IT skills; proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and basic business tools
Excellent problem-solving, analytical and quantitative skills
Solid understanding of economic, financial and general business concepts and terminology; familiarity with global and regional economic history, developments, trends and disruptions
Detail-oriented; ability to identify key patterns, trends and/or inconsistencies when working with numbers
