The Census Bureau will ask OMB to renew its clearance to gather state government administrative records for statistical purposes, including the 2020 Census. This clearance also would enable the Census Bureau to collect state admin records to help build the citizenship file as ordered by President Trump on July 11 in lieu of the citizenship question disallowed by the Supreme Court.
The Census Bureau requests public comments by November 15. It will summarize and respond to those comments in its submission to OMB in December.
Current clearance to collect such data, described here
https://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/PRAViewICR?ref_nbr=201608-0607-005,
ends December 31, 2019.
