Advice for JMC from recent junior faculty

How did you choose your department? What kind of things should I be paying attention to when I am on a flyout?

You want to like where you work, at least enough to try to get tenure there.  How people interact, what they do with their free time, what gets paid for and whether the school is uptight about money, all give you good info.
