I know that there is certainly some benefit to having a publication on your CV, as long as the journal is respectable. But is there any benefit at all to having other polished, complete papers on your personal site? I ask because I have been working intensively to polish up a 3rd year paper for publication, but there's little chance of getting any feedback from a journal by October, even if I submitted today. One the one hand, I think it shows some degree of productivity and the ability to get things done and out the door. On the other, they aren't publications, and so they haven't really been vetted. Any thoughts?
