I see many papers being published in top journals with about 4 pages in the introduction section. However, it is really difficult for me to write less than 5 or 6 (1.5 latex space) pages. I feel I must explain clearly motivation, intuition of the identification strategy, evidence supporting the key assumptions, main findings, contributions to literature. It is really difficult for me to put all that together in a compact way within 4 pages. My fear is to miss key information.
Is it fine to have 6 pages in a introduction? What about your experience? Reviewers care about too long introductions?
