The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) seeks several candidates to join its team of resident economists as research fellows. Candidates must have recently completed or expect to soon complete a PhD in economics or in related fields.

Research fellows are expected to produce academic research suitable for publication in top-level journals; present their work at academic conferences; and produce research suitable for AEI's many in-house publications and public conferences. Fellows are expected to communicate their research and its policy implications, in writing and in speech, to journalists, policymakers and the general public.

This is a full-time, three-year appointment with competitive salary and benefits. Fellows are salaried employees, and will not be expected to raise any part of their income from grants. Fellows will pursue their own research agenda, and will have the opportunity to work closely with AEI's resident scholars. During their appointment, fellows will be considered for promotion to AEI resident scholars.

AEI is a private, non-partisan, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to free markets, public engagement, and the academic freedom of its scholars. AEI scholars are self-directed, working on the issues and projects that they view as most important and the best use of their time and talents. AEI scholars often take differing positions on policy issues (in private and in public), making AEI a place of vibrant and informed debate. Founded in 1938, AEI is one of the most respected think tanks in the world.
