The University of Southern California invites nominations and applications for the Directorship of the Price Center for Social Innovation. We seek a prominent individual with a record of advancing research and practice in social innovation who has the vision and ability to provide the intellectual leadership for this new Center that was created with the naming of the Sol Price School of Public Policy in fall 2011. The individual will become a member of the Price School faculty. Faculty rank, with or without tenure, will be based on academic credentials and professional accomplishments.

The Center is committed to advancing understanding of social innovation, with an explicit recognition that novel solutions to persistent public problems can be found within government, business, and nonprofit sectors. In addition, we are particularly interested in solutions that address the lives of the disadvantaged and the quality of life in underserved communities and work that contributes to the development of the academic field of social innovation. The Center is governed by a joint board of the Price School and Price Charities.

The Center is well-positioned to build on the unique strengths of one of the world's leading schools of public policy. The Price School houses a unique set of professional fields-public policy, public management, urban planning, real estate development and health care-that emphasize the link between theory and practice, and a broad array of research centers in governance and philanthropy, urban development, and social policy. The School has a long standing commitment and experience in working across government, nonprofits, and business to develop solutions to critical public problems.

Position Description and Qualifications:
The Director will have a stellar record of academic accomplishment and/or professional achievement related to social innovation and a vision to make the Center a national/international presence in the field of social innovation. The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate the interest, commitment, and ability to grow the Center.

The individual will be responsible for developing the intellectual agenda for the Center; building connections within relevant partners within the School, the field and the community; and in helping to shape the school's curricular offerings in social innovation.
