The Department of Research and Chief Economist (RES/RES) of the Inter-American Development Bank, the largest source of financing for development in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), wishes to interview Ph.D.-level senior economists to work in the Research Department (RES) or other areas of the Bank.
IDB economists publish regularly in refereed academic journals and pursue policy-oriented analytical work that informs the Bank and policy makers in the LAC region regarding development challenges and appropriate policy responses and improves the effectiveness and relevance of the Bank's operations in its member countries.
Holding a PhD and having at least 5 years of relevant experience, with a record of high-quality original research in peer-reviewed journals; and the ability to communicate technical knowledge and expertise to a wide range of potential audiences are key requirements. Preference will be given to candidates who combine a strong academic profile with an interest in policy and who have worked on topics relevant to development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Proficiency in English and Spanish. Fluency in Portuguese is specially desired.
