The Health Economics and Epidemiology Research Office (HE2RO) of the University of the Witwatersrand, is an internationally recognised health research group with a focus on HIV and tuberculosis in South Africa. We seek an enthusiastic, self-motivated senior researcher for our health economics research team, which focuses on the costs, cost-effectiveness, and benefits of healthcare interventions. The position is based in Parktown, Johannesburg. Travel, overtime/weekend hours, and working in rural and under-resourced areas will be required.

Responsibilities:
-Develop ideas for relevant, practical research studies.
-Write proposals and obtain research funding.
-Implement and oversee all aspects of research projects.
-Disseminate research findings, including conference presentations and journal publications.
-Perform other tasks and contribute to organizational management as needed.
-Supervise junior research staff.

Requirements:
-Doctoral or masters degree in economics or related quantitative field.
-Minimum 3-5 years research experience or comparable professional experience.
-Experience implementing independent projects and managing study staff.
-Expertise with data analysis software.
-Demonstrated writing and communication skills.
-Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
