The Chair will be responsible for leadership and coordination of teaching, research, and extension functions in the Department (http://www.fred.ifas.ufl.edu/) and for coordination with Directors of Research and Education Centers that have food and resource economics faculty members. An earned doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in agricultural economics or closely related field is required. The Food and Resource Economics Department (FRED) has 26 faculty members and 10 support staff positions in Gainesville, and 5 faculty members and support staff spread across 7 research and extension centers throughout the state. FRED averages ~ 300 undergraduate majors/year, and 75 M.S., Ph.D. and Master of Agribusiness students.
