The School of Sustainability at Arizona State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position, at the assistant professor level, in Sustainability Science with a focus on quantitatively integrating conceptualizations of the future into present decisions and actions. A fundamental principle of sustainability is that our present actions should not undermine the ability of future generations to achieve their own goals and aspirations. To do so requires an ability to conceptualize, anticipate, and model plausible futures in a context of deep uncertainty about the dynamics of the Earth system and social processes, and devise strategies to move towards the future we want.
