The Central Bank of Chile is looking to fill up to three Economist/Senior Economist positions in its Research and Macroeconomic Analysis Departments.
Economists at the Research Department are expected to independently conduct and publish high-quality academic and policy-relevant research, as well as to present their work at international conferences. They should also contribute to writing policy notes, briefing the Board in topics of his/her expertise, and collaborate in the organization of international research conferences and workshops that regularly take place at the Central Bank of Chile.
Economists at the Macroeconomic Analysis Department are expected to conduct policy-oriented research to guide the economic policy process taken by the Central Bank. The economist should also contribute to identify relevant policy issues, writing policy notes, and briefing the Board in topics of his/her expertise. It is also expected that the economist conducts high-quality research publishable in academic journals, and participates in international conferences.
The Research Department and the Macroeconomic Analysis Department are part of the Research Division. Both departments employ PhD economists graduated from U.S. and European universities, as well as Master-level research assistants who collaborate with the research projects and macroeconomic analysis being carried in each department.
The position will be full time, open ended, and offers an internationally competitive salary and benefit package.
Applicants should have a PhD in Economics or equivalent by the end of 2015. Experienced, already graduated PhD economists are also encouraged to apply at the Senior Economist level. Areas of interest should be preferably in monetary policy, international macroeconomics and finance, and macroeconometrics, but applicants with other interests related to macroeconomics, finance and central banking will also be considered.
