Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law seeks an Economics Fellow to work in the Justice Program. This is a two-year position. The start date is Summer 2015. The Center uses data-driven, interdisciplinary research to inform its legal and policy recommendations to reform the criminal justice system. The Fellow will provide theoretical, statistical, and mathematical analysis to aid this process. The Fellow will write and execute data-driven reports, working with attorneys, communications staff, and organization leadership. The ideal candidate is considering a career in public policy or academia. The Fellow will apply economic analysis (theoretical and empirical) to criminal justice reform proposals. The Fellow will be encouraged to engage in independent research and publish in academic journals. The Fellow will also participate in the institution’s collaborative writing and editing process for reports, with an eye toward advancing institutional research.
Qualifications:
-Ph.D. in economics.
-Ability to quickly learn and understand criminal justice work.
-Public policy, law, or criminal justice experience preferred but not required.
-J.D., public policy, or political science degree a plus.
