Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Baker Institute seeks an economist with experience in international trade to serve as a fellow for the Institute's Mexico Center. The fellow will work with the center's director to support the mission of the Mexico Center. The fellow will provide strategic direction and shape the Center’s research agenda on trade in North America (especially trade between the US and Mexico), produce research, provide original thinking, generate ideas for commissioned papers, working groups, events, and project development.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in economics, strong interest in public policy, and experience in policy-oriented research.
Description of responsibilities:
- Intellectual Leadership: Perform policy-relevant research on topics related to North American trade. Play a leading role in developing the vision and framework for the Center's research and programming on Mexico-U.S. trade. Represent the Center and Institute in external policy debates.
- Programmatic Design and Oversight: Develop programming and new initiatives designed to influence policy and inform the public debate on trade.
- Fundraising: With the Institute's development department, help expand the program's financial base by sustaining current support and pursuing additional opportunities.
- Outreach/Communication: Represent the Mexico Center externally. Provide expert analysis and commentary.
