The Economic Research Center at The Buckeye Institute in Columbus, Ohio, seeks to hire a full-time Economic Policy Analyst.
The Economic Research Center (ERC) at The Buckeye Institute provides reliable economic research, data analysis, and econometric modeling for states across the country, and serves as a leading source of economic analysis in the state of Ohio.
The Economic Policy Analyst will engage in economic research, modeling, and policy-related writing and will collaborate with Buckeye staff members. The Economic Policy Analyst reports to the ERC’s director. The Economic Policy Analyst will create free-market solutions for a diverse range of public policy issues, including fiscal (tax and budget), energy, labor, education, and health policy.
Job Duties:
1) Econometrically model the potential economic impact of public policy proposals, examples include changes in tax law and energy prices
2) Write original, rigorously-researched, academic quality papers for publication
3) Effectively communicate—verbally and in writing—the effects of policy changes, including testifying in state legislatures to support our research (traveling as needed)
4) Explain complex statistical and economic issues to a lay audience and legislators
5) Develop and promote free-market policy ideas
