Full Text of JOE Listing:
The American Institute for Economic Research, located in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, is now looking for social science researchers trained in economics and allied disciplines with a research focus in one or more of the following areas: labor (J00), regional (R00), industry (L00), economic development and technical change (O00), and behavioral (D03, G02) economics. We are most interested in researchers that work at the intersection of fields.
Researchers would be responsible for developing a research agenda in conjunction with AIER’s Director of Research and Education. The research questions would be expected to yield results that are of practical as well as academic significance and use. In addition to writing working papers suitable for peer-reviewed journals and AIER research briefs, AIER staffers are expected to make public presentations, develop and maintain relationships with journalists and bloggers—particularly those whose beat is economics, business, or finance—and contribute to AIER products such as the Business Conditions Monthly. In the area of product development, there is ample room for creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit.
The American Institute for Economic Research helps individuals take action to improve their economic and financial well-being by providing factual, unbiased research and analysis. We strive to be a trusted source for economic information that serves ordinary people. Historically we have focused our research activities on business cycles and the macro economy, but we currently have a growing applied microeconomics group with an emphasis on education and small business. The ideal candidate will have interest in pursuing a research agenda that increases our capacity to understand the structural forces that affect individual, household or firm-level economic actors.
