ISER’s mission is to enhance the well-being of Alaskans and others, through non-partisan research that helps people understand social and economic systems and supports informed public and private decision-making.

The Director will lead the Institute through strategic planning aligned with ISER and UAA missions, developed collaboratively with staff and stakeholders. The incumbent will represent the Institute in a range of venues, generate external funding for the Institute, help develop external funding opportunities for faculty members, and participate in proposal development. He/she will coordinate research activities within the Institute and with other institutions and agencies, activities, and will supervise a multi-disciplinary team of over 40 faculty, administrative and research staff.

Applications will be accepted from exceptional candidates from either academic or non-academic backgrounds. The successful candidate will be recognized on and off campus as a leader in Alaska public policy issues.
