Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Saskatchewan, with an anticipated start date of Sept 1, 2016 or soon thereafter.
Duties:
The candidate will be expected to establish a successful and well-funded program of research and teaching in either agricultural commodity marketing, risk management, industrial organisation of agricultural/food markets, or in a closely related area. The appointee will be expected to deliver three courses per year at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Specific teaching duties will be assigned according to the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant and needs of the program. The incumbent will be expected to provide leadership and mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students in their research and studies, and to engage with relevant stakeholders to identify issues, obtain research funds, and effectively communicate research results.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, or a closely related field is required for this position. Applicants who are not Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada must have completed all PhD requirements at the time of short-listing. The successful candidate must demonstrate the potential to develop a successful, well-funded academic research program in either agricultural commodity marketing, risk management, industrial organisation of agricultural/ food markets, or a closely related area. The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian or US agriculture and food sector, as well as excellent knowledge of microeconomic theory and quantitative methods. Evidence of the potential to become a high quality post-secondary teacher-scholar in areas relevant to the position and the ability to operate as a team player in a collegial environment are also required.
