The Harvard University Department of Economics is seeking a postdoctoral candidate for a one year position (with the potential for reappointment) working on a project to explore opportunities for and examine impact of, mobile-phone based agriculture extension in developing countries. The candidate would work under the supervision of Professors Michael Kremer and Shawn Cole (Harvard Business School). The position will start in summer or fall 2016 and will be based in Cambridge, Massachusetts but will require considerable international travel. Alternatively, if the successful candidate wished to be based in Kenya, that may also be possible. There may be some opportunities for engagement with projects in India and potentially other locations in the developing world.
Applicants must hold a PhD in economics, agricultural economics, or another agriculture field and should have experience both with data work and field work in developing countries. Experience with research on information and communications technologies (ICT) in agriculture strongly preferred.
