The Institute of Real Estate Studies (IRES) is a university-level research institute established in 2007. The vision of IRES is to be the global leader in real estate studies, centred in Asia, by advancing thought leadership in the field of real estate, fostering excellence in research, education and outreach.
The institute promotes multidisciplinary collaboration and high-impact research on broad real estate issues. It also collaborates closely with industry practitioners with a view to enhance industry best practices, capabilities and governance, contributing to sustainable community development, economic progress and social well-being. In addition, IRES has developed executive education programs and organized public seminars as part of its industry outreach, while focusing resources on key initiatives to promote industry development.

NUS seeks to hire an outstanding scholar with strong experience in academic-industry collaborations for appointment as director of IRES, starting in July 2017, for an initial term of three years.
The director is appointed by the Deputy President (Research and Technology) and will work in consultation with the institute’s management board to provide leadership in the following areas:
• To advance rigorous and high-impact research in multidisciplinary fields including economics, finance, real estate and urban development, demography, environmental sustainability and public policies;
• To develop effective industry outreach programs for practitioners and academics to share cutting-edge knowledge and address challenges facing the real estate industry and policymakers in Singapore and beyond; and
• To provide world-class education that fosters the next generation of real estate industry leaders and academics, and enhance collaborations with world-class universities and real estate institutions worldwide.
The director should be an internationally-recognized leader in his or her academic field and qualify for a professorship in a faculty or school within NUS. The appointment of director is a full-time position with generous support for research.
