The University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization (UHERO) in the Social Science Research Institute, College of Social Sciences & Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Specialist (position 88744/88649), full-time, tenure track, beginning January 1, 2017 or earlier, pending position clearance and availability of funds.
Duties:
Develop and lead a research agenda focused on Hawaii's water and water resources policy and management.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and researchers including economists, hydrologists, engineers, geophysicists, as well as regional stakeholders to identify pressing water issues facing Hawaii and the Pacific, and address these through rigorous, nationally competitive sponsored and published research.
Provide expert leadership for delivering the results and policy implications of this research to stakeholders, decision-makers, and the general public through targeted high-impact consultation and outreach in support of the WRRC and UHERO.
Develop a complementary natural resource and environmental management research agenda in addition to the position's primary focus on water resources.
Conduct research and service in congruence with the missions of both UHERO and the WRRC, serve as principal investigator on extramurally funded projects, and publish the results in peer reviewed sources.
