The University of California, Riverside (UCR) invites applications for an open-rank (tenure-track/tenured) position in the area of geocomputation. This position is part of a major initiative to create a world-class consortium of spatial researchers who are advancing both geospatial analysis and applications to the grand challenges across science, engineering and the humanities.

As a member of the University’s new Center for Spatial Science, the successful candidate will play a central role in advancing the geocomputational and analytical capacity of the Center, and in realizing the Center's mission to develop state of the science geospatial methods and their application in interdisciplinary research at UCR and beyond. We seek a Ph.D with an outstanding research agenda in one or more of the following areas: high performance geocomputation, geovisualization, spatio-temporal databases, spatial optimization, spatial-temporal signal and image processing, and spatial statistics.

This position will commence as early as July 1, 2017 or as negotiated. Salary level will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Preference will be given to candidates whose research both enhances the Center’s contributions to fundamental geographic information science, and stimulates interdisciplinary research. A successful candidate at the assistant professor level must have a promising research agenda and is expected to establish and maintain a vibrant externally funded research program. A successful candidate at the associate or full professor level will be an individual of international reputation, with a record of high quality research funding and strong interdisciplinary collaborations with policy relevance.
