Mergers and Acquisitions Division, Japan Fair Trade Commission has an opening for economists beginning April 1, 2017 or later.

The economist is expected to perform economic analysis on mergers in collaboration with the case team investigating mergers notified under the Antimonopoly Act. The ideal candidate has the skill of quantitative methods to estimate demand function or conduct merger simulation for identifying relevant market or analyzing competitive impact of a merger. Knowledge of industrial organization and/or microeconomics is highly recommended as the economist is also expected to provide comments or advice on the merger review based on economics.
