The Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) – Member of the Leibniz Association is offering a PostDoc Position (100%) (f/m)at the Department of Financial Markets (Professor Michael Koetter, PhD), starting on June 1st, 2017 or later. The contract will initially be limited to three years. The place of employment is Halle (Saale).

It is a full-time research position with no teaching or administrative load associated to it with the option to gain teaching experience at associated universities if interested. You will conduct own research with the goal to publish in top and very good journals and collaborate with colleagues from various departments at IWH.

Your profile/Your motivation
The successful candidate will have completed his/her PhD in economics or finance with excellent results by the end of 2017 the latest and would be able to start at the earliest possible date. We are seeking candidates of the highest quality that intend to develop their existing research towards top-quality publications in the field of finance and/or economics and who want to expand their existing research portfolio with new projects in order to pursue an aca¬demic career in the long run.

What we expect
Specifically, we are interested in researchers with profiles that border financial and labour economics. The PostDoc will be located in the Department of Financial Markets with the intention of closely collaborating with the Department of Structural Change and Productivity. We seek to attract candidates that help us to further capitalise on our strong ties to both the Research Data Centre of the Federal Employment Agency at the Institute for Employment Research and central banks. Our departments work together very closely to analyse the interplay of financial and labour market frictions from both empirical and theoretical perspectives. Our intention is to work interdisciplinary with high-quality micro data to provide evidence on the role of finance and labour for productivity and output growth through an optimal allocation of resources in developed economies. IWH hosts the secretariat of CompNet, which connects top level researchers and is a hub for high-quality research on productivity and related questions.
