The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ARE) in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is seeking applications to fill a tenure-track position in the Economics of Grain Production and Transportation at the Assistant Professor level.

The position will be motivated by a desire for economic expertise in an expanding local feed grain production system and expertise that facilitates more efficient supply chain management for locally grown and imported feed grains to ensure the vitality of livestock production in North Carolina. Addressing problems common to other grain deficit intensive grain consuming regions domestically and around the globe is encouraged.

The Assistant Professor position will be expected to become an internationally recognized expert and leader in the economics of grain production and transportation. Performance will be assessed along several dimensions: the success of a research program leading to publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals; a nationally and internationally recognized extension program; effective teaching at the graduate and possibly undergraduate level, including the supervision of Ph.D. dissertations; and service to the department, college, university and scholarly organizations. Willingness to participate in interdisciplinary collaborations across academic units is a plus.

This incumbent will need to travel off-site on occasion alone to observe research and must independently be able to travel from location to location without reliance on others or the advanced notice that is often required of alternative means of transportation.
