The Economics Senior Specialist is a member of the Country Management team and reports to the Regional Economic Advisor and the respective Country Representative. The Economist performs a wide range of functions that contribute to the achievement of economic growth and social development, providing monitoring and analysis of development needs and outcomes within the context of the Bank's mandate.

Qualifications:
Education: Master's degree or equivalent in Economics. Ph.D. preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in economic research, economic monitoring and economic data analysis. Proven knowledge of standard techniques of debt and current account of the balance of payments sustainability analysis is a requirement for this position. Demonstrated expertise in policy issues and development problems in commodity countries is preferred as is experience in/with the Bank, including knowledge of its policies and procedures. Strong demonstrated command of econometric and quantitative software (STATA, MATLAB, etc.), e.g. via publications, is required.
Languages: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Oral and written proficiency in a second Bank language (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is also required. Language skills will be tested.
