The Economics Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz invites applications for a tenured position at the associate or full professor level (position #JPF00454-18). The Economics Department has a Ph.D. program, a professional Master’s program, and undergraduate programs.
Applicants should have an established track record of research and teaching experience in public policy relevant areas of microeconomics. Applicants will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise and mentor graduate students, and contribute to the research environment of the department and to university and professional service. The selected candidate also will be the founding director of the proposed Masters of Arts Degree Program in Social Sciences and Policy. This interdisciplinary graduate program in public policy is currently being developed and will benefit graduate students in the Economics Department once it is implemented. We welcome candidates who understand the barriers facing women and minorities who are underrepresented in higher education careers (as evidenced by life experiences and educational background), and who have experience in equity and diversity with respect to teaching, mentoring, research, life experiences, or service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
