The University of Macau (UMacau) is the flagship public university in Macao, which gives it a unique advantage when pursuing the goal of becoming a world-class university with regional characteristics. The Department of Economics of the Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for a position of Full / Associate / Assistant Professor of Economics.

The Department of Economics currently offers programs leading to Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degrees. Faculty members actively engage in research with particular focuses on Microeconomic Theory, Public Economics, Financial Economics, the Chinese Economy and Economic Growth. Based on the quantity of publications in some respectable SSCI journals, the Department is highly ranked among universities in the Greater China Region. Qualifications
The Department seeks a junior or advanced scholar in the field of Econometrics. All areas of Econometrics will be considered. We aim to appoint the most qualified candidate who will make significant scholarly contributions to the Department. Applicants should have a PhD in Economics, or be close to completion of the degree, and must have a record of scholarly research, or demonstrate high research potential. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate evidence of teaching effectiveness. The candidate must hold a PhD at the time of appointment.

The selected candidate may assume duty as early as January 2018.

Position and Remuneration
Remuneration and appointment rank offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification, current position and professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
