The National Association of Home Builders is seeking a Senior Economist who will be responsible for responding to inquiries about economic and housing market conditions; writing interpretations of economic releases for members and general readership; and participating in forecasting, research, and analysis of the housing industry and related issues, communicating the organization’s view of the housing market to NAHB members and other housing industry stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter and curious, having a demonstrated ability to use analytical, writing, and verbal skills to convey technical information effectively. Candidates should have knowledge of economic theory, research methods (e.g., forecasting), and basic programming and econometric software experience (e.g., SAS, EViews, Visual Basic).

A minimum of five years of work experience in government, private, or non-profit sector is required. Experience in housing related industries and/or a demonstrated interest in state and local markets is desirable. Public speaking experience is a plus. A Ph.D. or other academic research may be substituted for work experience. A Ph.D. in economics or related field, or a combination of a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in economics and training, skills, and experience is also required. Some travel required.
