The Department of Public Administration and Policy (DPAP) in the School of Public Affairs (SPA) at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2018. Applicants should have a PhD or an anticipated PhD completion by August 2018 in relevant fields, such as Public Policy, Economics, and Political Science.
We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality and policy-oriented research on issues related to environmental policy. This can include scholarship on the causes and consequences of a broad range of environmental problems and challenges as well as public policies designed to address them. DPAP has a strong and growing emphasis on applied research in public policy issues related to environment, education, and health. This position will augment the department’s strength in environmental policy. SPA houses the Center for Environmental Policy (CEP) and environmental studies are an important priority for the university. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in the school’s Master of Public Policy, Master of Public Administration, and doctoral degree programs. In addition to producing high quality scholarship and effective teaching, responsibilities will include working with graduate students and service. Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in pursuing externally-funded research and open to working collaboratively with faculty from across the College and the University.
