Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Department of Economics invites applications for two tenure-line positions in macroeconomics, one specializing in monetary economics at the rank of assistant professor, which will be tenure track, and the other, in any subfield of macroeconomics, at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor (this is an open-rank search), that will be either a tenure-track or tenured appointment. Both appointments will begin in July 2018.
Given Amherst College’s commitment to cultivating a challenging and inclusive educational environment, we seek candidates who can teach, mentor, and inspire students of different races, ethnicities, nationalities, religions, sexual orientations, genders, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Candidates with dual-career considerations should be aware that the college participates in the Five College Consortium and that the other four institutions in this consortium are also hiring in a variety of fields.
The department is seeking high-quality candidates in macroeconomics. In addition to teaching courses related to the above listed research fields, the successful candidate will regularly teach in our introductory course and/or the core intermediate macroeconomics course and supervise senior honors projects. Amherst offers a two-course per semester teaching load and excellent research support. Qualifications include a Ph.D. (candidates must have the Ph.D. degree in hand or all requirements for the degree fulfilled by the start of the appointment) and a record that demonstrates promise of high-quality research and teaching. An appointment at the assistant, or possibly the associate professor rank, would be tenure track. A senior appointment (full professor, or possibly associate professor rank) would be with tenure. Any appointment with tenure will be contingent upon a tenure review.
