The School of Human Resources & Labor Relations in the College of Social Science at Michigan State University seeks applicants for a full-time tenure system position at the Assistant Professor level in Human Resources and Labor Markets.
This position is an academic-year (nine-month) appointment with a beginning date of August 16, 2018. We are particularly interested in applicants with research and teaching interests in labor markets and the response of firms and individuals to market dynamics. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the role of labor market institutions and organizations and bring an economics perspective on internal and external labor markets. Instructional responsibilities include teaching in our signature Master of Human Resources & Labor Relations program, our doctoral program and at the undergraduate level.
We seek applicants with demonstrated records of research and scholarship excellence and demonstrated records (or strong potential for success) in obtaining external funding to support one's research agenda. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D., prior to the beginning date, in a field such as economics or a related discipline, such as employment relations, human resource management, strategic management, organization studies, or sociology, with a strong economics background.
Given the interdisciplinary nature of the position, the review of applications will be conducted in two waves:
The deadline for the first wave of reviews is October 1, 2017.
The second wave deadline is December 1, 2017.
