The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD’s) Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R) supports HUD’s mission to create cohesive, economically healthy, and resilient communities. PD&R anticipates an opening for a well-qualified economist (new graduate or mid-career) to work in its Economic Development and Public Finance Division (EDPFD). The economists in EDPFD specialize in housing, urban, public and regulatory economics. Primary duties will include:
• Analyzing the economic effects of HUD regulations;
• Assessing alternative solutions to housing and community development needs;
• Analyzing data concerning the low-income housing tax-credit;
• Advising program offices or policymakers on economic development policies; and
• Developing an individual research program that supports the mission of HUD.
Successful applicants will have strong applied research and writing skills. U.S. citizenship is required for all positions.
