Emerson College seeks an experienced faculty member for a full-time teaching position in our college-wide Business of Creative Enterprises (BCE) major. The BCE major attracts students with a passion for arts and communication, who seek careers leading and managing businesses in the creative economy. Distinct from traditional business majors or arts management programs, the BCE major prepares students to become future executives, managers, and innovators in the creative enterprises focused in Arts and Entertainment, Communication, Media, and Publishing sectors. Depending on the professional practice or research/academic orientation of the candidate, this appointment will be as Executive-in-Residence (renewable, non-tenured) or Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure-track or tenured). Successful candidates will demonstrate effective teaching in the context of a diverse student community and expertise in management and business with experience teaching courses such as Business Fundamentals, Finance and Accounting or Business Analytics through the lens of creative enterprises. Ideally, applicants for an Executive-in-Residence appointment should have previous management experience in the creative economy. For Assistant/Associate professor applicants, a record of scholarly work commensurate with the desired rank is required. The appointment start date for the Fall 2018 semester is August 23, 2018.
Successful applicants must have a minimum of an MBA or other master’s degree in a related field and evidence of successful classroom teaching experience at the university level or promise of a successful teaching career.
