The Farm Credit Administration (FCA) is a small, vibrant, independent Federal agency that regulates and examines the Farm Credit System (FCS), an over $300+ billion nationwide network of 80+ financial institutions providing credit and related services to farmers, ranchers, agribusinesses, and agricultural and rural cooperatives.
As the Chief Economist, you will:
Monitor developments in the economic, policy, financial, and operating environment affecting FCA and the FCS.
Identify and evaluate emerging economic, agricultural, and financial issues requiring regulation or policy developments, evaluates alternatives, and recommends approaches to be taken.
Monitor trends in the financial characteristics of the System and performs analytical studies that assess specific financial performance factors and risk exposure of the Farm Credit System.
Oversee the assessment of financial viability of proposed mergers of FCS institutions.
Supervise a staff of professional personnel.
Provide expert advice and guidance at meetings, briefings, and presentations to assure understanding of issues and foster acceptance of conclusions and recommendations Initiates outreach programs to communicate research findings to selected audiences and peers.
Develop and uses a wide range of products to publicize research results including analyses, articles, publications, and presentations.
