Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Department of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School has an opening for a non-tenure-track faculty appointment as a Marshall J. Seidman Fellow. The Seidman Fellow will hold a research associate appointment in the Department of Health Care Policy. The fellow will advance their analytic skills and publication record through informal training and extensive collaboration with Department faculty on research projects. The Fellow will also have access to unique data assets stored at the Department of Health Care Policy. The Fellow will receive dedicated mentorship from specific faculty advisors, with the expectation that their time as a Fellow will advance their career development. The Fellow will work primarily with one economist faculty member on projects spanning a number of topics, including adverse selection in health insurance markets and the economics of the Medicaid program. The expectation is that this will be a two-year appointment that will prepare the Fellow for successful placement in an academic tenure-track appointment at a major research university or that will provide a candidate who has deferred an appointment with an opportunity to engage and collaborate with Harvard Faculty on high-quality research projects prior to starting their permanent position.
Qualifications include a Ph.D. in economics, health policy, public policy, health services research, or a related field; experience in health economics research and deep understanding of economic concepts; strong writing and oral presentation skills; and strong skills in data management and analysis, including experience with large data sets.
Harvard is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
