The Department of Applied Economics at Utah State University anticipates hiring an Assistant Professor of Resource Economics (JEL Codes Q25, Q00). This will be a nine-month tenure-eligible position with a 50:45:5 division of effort between research, teaching, and service.
The successful candidate will develop a nationally recognized research program in resource economics that is complementary to on-going departmental research programs. Strong preference will be given for someone who has conducted empirical research in the economic analysis of water management or the economic analysis of water and natural resource policy alternatives. Other natural resource fields, particularly public lands management and use, and economic analysis of renewable and/or non-renewable resources may be considered. The candidate will be expected to obtain external funding to support his or her research program, and to seek disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborative opportunities with other faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
A Ph.D. in economics or closely related field must be completed before beginning employment. Strong theoretical, econometric and/or numerical modeling skills and evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills are required. A background in the natural sciences or environmental policy is desirable, but not required.
