The School of Banking and Finance at the UNSW Business School is seeking to recruit outstanding applicants for tenure-track Assistant Professors positions and tenured Associate Professors, across all areas of finance and banking.
CRITERIA:
Applicants for Assistant Professor positions should be near completion or have completed a PhD in Finance, Financial Economics or a related field. Selection for Assistant Professors will be based on potential for publications in top journals and for effective teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to new PhDs, we are also seeking seasoned Assistant Professors with a strong research pipeline.
Applicants for Associate Professor positions must have a PhD and established record of high quality research with evidence of sustained scholarship and publications in top tier finance journals. Candidates are expected to mentor junior faculty members, contribute to the School’s research culture and provide evidence of effective teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels (with opportunities to teach in the MBA and executive education programs).
DETAILS OF THE POSITION:
Assistant Professor positions are full-time, for an initial fixed-term period of 5 years, with conversion to a continuing position subject to satisfactory performance. Associate Professor positions are full-time continuing positions. An attractive salary package will be negotiated with successful applicants. Teaching loads are competitive, and new faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching load in their first year.
Subject to satisfactory performance, all faculty may apply for fully funded six-month sabbatical leave after three years of service.

The School of Banking and Finance, UNSW Business School is a large and diverse school with over 40 full-time faculty working across all areas of finance research. Faculty graduated from many schools including University of Chicago, UT Austin, NYU, UCLA, INSEAD, Swiss Finance Institute and the National University of Singapore.
The School has a strong research culture and our faculty have strong links with industry and global researchers. The School provides support for research through an extensive suite of databases and generous conference travel funding. The School has strong ties with international business schools facilitated by vibrant seminar and brown-bag series and a well-established program of prominent international visiting academics. The School also hosts the Australasian Finance and Banking Conference in December which is now in its 31st year.
