The University of Mississippi’s Department of Economics in the College of Liberal Arts and the John D. Bower School of Population Health at the University of Mississippi Medical Center invite applications for one associate or full professor position beginning August 2019.
A primary research specialization in health economics is required, as is a PhD in economics. Candidates with secondary fields related to public policy issues like labor or education economics, as examples, are desirable. The candidate will be expected to help develop an emphasis in health economics to be incorporated into the existing MA, MS, and PhD programs in the Department of Economics and the Bower School. This will include recruiting graduate students, teaching and developing graduate courses in health economics. The appointment is joint between the Department of Economics and the Bower School but will be located on the Oxford Campus of the University of Mississippi. For tenure and promotion purposes, the selected candidate will report to the Chair of the Department of Economics. The selected candidate is also expected to interact regularly with the Bower School Dean and faculty to help expand the program to the campus of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
