The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management at the University of Hawaii Manoa invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor (9 months, 70% instruction, 30% research). We seek an applied economist with a PhD and expertise in quantitative reasoning to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in applied economics, statistics and system modeling, and to conduct cutting edge research throughout Hawaii and the Pacific Region. This scholar is expected to develop a teaching and research program that uses quantitative modeling approaches to build theory and assess the practice of resource and environmental management in tropical and sub-tropical settings. The scholar’s research focus might include food security, forestry, food systems, energy systems, and/or coastal resources. The individual will teach four courses per year, including 203 Calculus and 310 Statistics, as well as newly developed courses in intermediate and/or advanced statistics and modeling.
