The Population Studies Center in the Institute for Social Research (ISR) at the University of Michigan invites applications for a 1-year renewable post-doctoral fellowship. The post-doctoral scholar will collaborate with investigators working on the Longitudinal, Intergenerational Family Electronic Microdata (LIFE-M) project. Funded by the NSF, this study pioneers new data linking methods and documents changes in intergenerational mobility and health over the 20th century, allowing for research on the long-run effects of early childhood interventions and changes in public policies.
The post-doctoral scholar will help develop new data linking methods, expand data linkages to new data sources, and carry out econometric analyses of linked data independently and as part of a team. The position also includes management of staff programmers and research assistants supporting these activities.
Requirements for the position are a Ph.D.in Economics or a closely-related field, experience in data linking and applied econometric methods using big data, familiarity with relevant software and programming tools (Python and Stata), and strong writing skills.
