The Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City offers a paid internship to a Ph.D. candidate at the stage of writing a dissertation in the field of macroeconomics, monetary economics, international macroeconomics, labor economics, finance, banking, or payments systems. The intern will have the opportunity to interact with professionals in a stimulating research environment and attend the Department’s invited seminar series. Students conducting computationally intensive research will find particularly attractive the availability of high-performance computer facilities.
The internship will take place between June and September, 2019, for 8-10 weeks (dates are flexible). The intern will receive a stipend of $35 per hour and paid domestic airfare for one round trip between his/her principal residence and Kansas City. The intern will pay his or her own living expenses. The Department will provide office space, a computer, and technical support. The intern is expected to give a seminar on his/her dissertation topic at the beginning of their visit and a second seminar near the end to highlight progress made.
Applications are open to Ph.D. candidates from all Ph.D.-granting colleges and universities. Applicants must have already passed their qualifying examinations and be at the dissertation stage of their program.
