Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention advocacy group, is seeking a Lead Research Scientist. This position will be the lead methodological and data resource for the research department, responsible for conceptualizing and designing research as well as interpreting, communicating, and presenting it. This position involves a combination of fast-turnaround research and novel data exploration to support the organization’s policy campaigns as well as longer-term development of original research to fill gaps in the field of gun violence prevention. The position manages the Data Scientist and specialist consultants.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in public health, economics, criminology, sociology or other related discipline plus a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in applied data analysis for social science, public health, criminology, or related field.

The position is based in New York City, and applicants are expected to work in-person 2–3 days/week. The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $155,000/year. We offer benefits including health insurance, vision, and dental, as well as 20 paid vacation days and 10 sick days per year.
