The Department of Human Sciences at The Ohio State University seeks a post-doctoral researcher to work on a recently awarded grant from Columbus City Schools (CCS) to project demographic changes within the district and use publicly available U.S. Census Bureau data to provide plausible estimates of future student growth that account for local, state, and national demographic and economic trends.
Recent graduates in the fields of regional economics and demography that have expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and econometric modeling are invited to apply. The post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for data collection and organization, model estimation, and contribute to model specification and reporting. The project will employ U.S. Census Bureau tract-level data and CCS region shapefiles. Experience with these or other similar demographic and economic data sets is preferred.
Dr. Michael Betz will oversee the project and serve as the primary mentor for the post-doctoral researcher. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Betz to estimate several future student projections for each CCS subregion based on multiple plausible scenarios and parameters from national, state, and local projections. The candidate will present these findings in a final report detailing future student projections for each of the six CCS subregions.
