The Department of Economics at KU Leuven has a full-time academic position in the field of Development Economics.
Interested candidates should hold (or obtain prior to the start date of employment) a Ph.D. in Economics or in a related field with demonstrable expertise in the above mentioned areas of specialization. The position can be filled at the junior (tenure track) or at the senior (tenured) level.
Candidates are expected to have an excellent research record. The quality of the candidate’s research should be demonstrated by publications in top international peer-reviewed journals. Junior applicants are expected to show research excellence through a pipeline of promising research projects, papers and academic references. Experience in writing grant proposals and a strong international network are recommended.
You can show evidence of strong didactical skills and preferably have teaching experience. Your written and spoken English is excellent. The official administrative language used at KU Leuven is Dutch. If you do not speak Dutch (or do not speak it well) at the start of employment, you can follow language training provided by KU Leuven to enable you to take part in administrative meetings.

To facilitate scientific onboarding and accelerate research initiatives, a starting grant of 100,000 euro is offered to new professors without substantial other funding.
